Solar Potential

South Extension Part 1 has a solar potential to produce electricity of 1400 kWh (units) per annum for each KW of solar panels installed for next 25 years with around 0.8% yearly degradation. Generation from solar panels peaks in summers but lowers in Winters and Monsoon.


In South Extension Part 1, the solar panels can generate enough electricity to recover the cost of power plant within 4 -5 years while the owner enjoys FREE solar energy for next 25 years.

Area Required

In South Extension Part 1 , 1 KW solar panel requires around 10 sq yard of shadow free area. So a plot of 100 sq yards can have an installation of 5 KW of solar system if the roof size is at 50% of the plot size. Similarly, 200 sq yard will have 10 KW, a 300 sq yard will have 15 KW, a 400 sq yard will have 20 KW and 500 KW will have 25 KW.

Sizes of solar systems

Already a number of houses and buildings have opted for solar system in South Extension Part 1 and near by areas. Generally the houses and commerical buildings have solar systems of sizes varying from 1 KW, 2 KW, 3 KW, 5 KW, 10 KW, 15 KW and upto 25 KW at South Extension Part 1

Subsidy / Incentives

MNRE subsidy is also available for any new solar system in the buldings located at South Extension Part 1. Delhi government provides incentives of Rs 2.0 per kWh on the solar electricity produced from solar systems
